October – Rutland County

Six brave follies set of in rain, finished in sunshine but with the constant companion of Storm Callum. Boy, did it blow! Some of the par fives into the wind where more like par sevens! Each hole bought different challenges depending on wind direction. With the ground being hard one had to be careful with a back wind and some massive drives were hit. It actually became interesting to combat Callum with some improvised shots being tried. With only six of us, incidents were few and far between. Apparently, Andrew has a photo of Martin being almost blown over and Geoff tried to get on the Bunker Flunker leader board with a fine effort of four. However some good golf was played with John mastering the par threes apart from the 17th, which we chose as nearest the pin but, unfortunately, no one found the green from the tee so the prize was carried over. The final count up remains a closely guarded secret with winners, runners-up and scores being declared at the Supper on Friday November 2nd.

Well done to all six players who cannot have played in much rougher conditions.
