Blankney Golf Club – April 2026
The April event took place at Blankney Golf Club in Lincolnshire, requiring approximately an hour’s journey from Peterborough. All participants arrived safely and punctually for the competition.
Prior to the round, Geoff Delany mentioned that he was still experiencing “cruise lag” following his recent holiday. Unfortunately, this appeared to affect his performance, resulting in a challenging round attributed to fatigue.
Several players made their first appearance of the season, displaying mixed performances at this early stage.
The nearest pin contest was conducted on the demanding 7th hole, a Par 3 protected by numerous bunkers. Andy Izod established an early lead in the first group, securing the prize with a shot that remained unbeaten.
A second prize, generously sponsored by Andy, was awarded for nearest the pin on the Par 5 18th in three shots. This proved more competitive than the 7th hole. Andy once again set an initial benchmark, but Paul Langan’s impressive third shot, reminiscent of Seve Ballesteros, landed within ten feet of the pin. Richard Parker, determined to excel, reached the fringe of the green in two and subsequently putted to within a couple of feet, thereby claiming the prize.
In the stableford results, Graham Tooke maintained strong form, placing third with 35 points. Paul Flanders followed closely with 36 points. Yim Kong, participating for the first time this year, delivered an outstanding performance with 39 points and secured victory for the day.
The next event will be held at Girton, and we look forward to seeing everyone there.
